Week 3 - JOY
As we get closer to Easter, the reality of what Jesus accomplished on the cross is at the forefront of many people’s mind. It may seem odd to talk about the joy when referring to this brutal even, but it is something Jesus experienced despite the shame. Hone in today on the joy that Jesus experienced and what that joy consists of.
Jesus’ life was not taken away from Him, but rather He gave up His own life for our sake. You may be wondering - why? Why would God choose to die instead of snap His fingers and release us from the bondage of sin? Because of you, because of us. Jesus needed to die in order for the sacrifice for our sin to be sufficient. He did this because there was a JOY set before Him… that joy is US. Jesus saw the end goal which would ultimately be giving us right-standing with God, and it brought Him great joy. God rejoices when the lost finally come home.
